I am at peace right now... well at least I was until I heard a good friend of mine lost his job.
Although he lost his job apparently due to a mistake he made at work, I am still ina contemplative mood about the economy. I think a large portion of people are frustrated- especially those how do not have jobs at the moment. I am frustrated myself due to the fact that I have to work three jobs to make ends meet, and the only insurance I can afford barely pays for my yearly exam (and it doesn't cuz I just got a bill in the mail). I used think government-run healthcare was the answer to my health insurance woes, but I realized that if the government cant help the economy or change the rise in unemployment, then how in the hell can they run healthcare? What kind of quality care can I get from an institution who allowed a bunch of quack scientists convince millions to invest in alternative energy and ignore issues such as a growing national debt and cancer research?
I have to admit that I voted Democrat this past November. I do not believe my vote actually counted (Texas swayed Republican), but I do feel guilty. I have since changed my mind about which ticket I should have voted on and although I can"t take it back, I can make a decision to be more informed from now on. I am on a mission... Whether it really matters, I will get back to you.
Okay so I am changing it up- I have decided to just blog about as much crap as possible- mainly based around my experiences in Dallas. Now, I am from a small town in Kansas and went to college in a small town in Missouri. Well, Toto, I am not in Kansas anymore. Life is different, and I am here to tell you all about it.

Thy gym
I have decided that next time I go to the gym, I will look cute. Not that I am there for anything but to work out.... wink wink.... but it almost seems like a boob and tan competition. I am not into the whole fake breast revolution, but if I want to not feel like a fat slob tonight at the gym, I better step up my game.

Uniform Dating
A few years ago I stumbled across a website called uniformdating.com. Imagine my dissappointment when I discovered this site was for Uniforms who want to date other Uniforms.
Who doesn't adore a man in uniform? Just the thought of a big, strong manly man in a crisp, clean military or police uniform gets my blood boiling. Cute cops are ten times more hot because they have that serious demeanor while on the job... except when they are writing me a speeding ticket.
My family gave me the hardest time in my years during and after college. Why? well... I sort of had a thing for firemen... Just because I dated three of them in a row my family never failed to bring up "come on baby light my fire," and "smokey the bear," at the dinner table during Thanksgiving and Easter dinners.
After the firemen came the pilots... Four of them, actually. One was in the aviation program at school... he didn't actually wear a uniform but maybe it was the prospect that he WOULD or the maybe it was the sexy bomber jacket.
Pilots two, three and four were all in the US Air Force. God Bless our TROOPS! Hallelujiah thank you Uncle Sam for flight outfits! Oh, and dress uniforms are so... Tom Cruise and Top Gun... I became very patriotic those years of my life. Too bad all them had to relocate to remote places, like Japan and... Del Rio, Texas.
After the pilots, I had a dry spell before I settled for a waiter- very temporary. I don't know, maybei t was the tie and black pants taht got me going... But, thankfully it didn't last long... It could have been that he smoked pot every night after work or the fact that he always smelled like pasta and was just plain unmotivated to do anything but smoke pot and work at Olive Garden.
So my uniform fetish has a little to do with the actual uniform, and more to do with the substance behind it. The men in them are typically well-mannered, clean-cut and parent-approved.
Anyone know of any cute, single police officers in the DFW area?
Just checking.

Not like Sex and the City
Okay so I am renewed and revitalized. I am a redesign. Publishers and journalists do it all the time.
Here it is. I hope to blog every day at least once. I seek to entertain, inform and hopefully at least once make someone pee their pants. Keeping my fingers crossed that this happens...
About me- I am a twenty-something living and working in Dallas, Texas, land of everything BIG (which suits me perfectly, because I have a big bootie and I am nearly 5'8).
I travel around the wonderful world of DFW because I have three, sometimes four, jobs. I teach at two community colleges, work with pre-schoolers at a children's theatre and occasionally do contract theatre work about town.
I love shoping, food, Christ, friends and sparly smelly things.
I am single, sort of.
I am very opinionated and I don't fall into a specific thinking "category." I won't be pigeon-holed. I am not a democratic or a republican. I am not afraid to speak my mind.
I will talk candidly about dating, relationships, and daily goings-on. I will also include interesting tidbits from local and world news.
So... Enjoy.

2 killed, girl critically injured in crash on LBJ Freeway near High Five

2 killed, girl critically injured in crash on LBJ Freeway near High Five
Early this morning, while most of us were snuggled warm
in our bed, two twenty-somethings were killed and one
little girl seriously injured in a horrible car crash on LBJ in
Dallas. A VW pulled onto the shoulder at 4:30 a.m., so a passenger could throw
up, and was rear ended by large SUV.
This article, posted on the Dallas Morning News website, received several
comments from readers in the DFW area, many of which criticized everything from
the drivers of the cars' races, speculation of prior activities to the crash (details of
which have not yet been released) to the fact that the little girl was not only not in
a carseat or booster, but sitting on the lap of one of the other passengers.
Of course, everyone commenting was ASSuming they knew exactly what the
people were doing prior and during the wreck. The comments also included well-
wishers and thoughts for the little girl.
I, however, was thinking something else. The driver who rear ended the VW must
be going through hell. I sure would be. Especially with the hundreds of DMN
readers who are attacking them via the web.
I am sure they didn't INTEND to cause a wreck. They were simply driving while
possibly a little tired... Something WE ALL are guilty of, especially me. I perform in
a band and sometimes have to drive 30-40 minutes home at 3:30 a.m. I am lucky
that I haven't been in an accident (knock on wood).
This story just goes to prove how everyone in this town sucks at driving- yet no
one will admit it.
